Microsoft and SEGA have announced a new strategic alliance which according to the two companies will be focused on the production of “large-scale, global games in a next-generation development environment built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform.”
Written in typical PR language, the announcement doesn’t say much at first, though the purpose seems to be the development of a cloud-based gaming platform running on Azure.
The alliance between the two companies, SEGA says, is a key part of the long-term strategy, especially as the Super Game initiative is making good progress.
